Dorte Lajer, European Patent Attorney, Oslo
“Zacco has given me the opportunity to learn during regular training activities and through my daily work, especially in situations where I am able to spend time when necessary to delve deeper into a subject.”
What do you do as Patent Attorney?
I assist clients in obtaining patent or design protection by drafting applications and representing them vis-à-vis the authorities. When a client has obtained intellectual property protection, I provide advice on how to best defend the property. I also assist clients in investigating and evaluating IP rights belonging to others such as competitors, prospective partners and acquisition candidates, etc.
Which part of your job do you enjoy most?
Drafting new patent applications is always challenging and it allows you to study a subject in more detail. However, challenging the rights belonging to others provides opportunities to use your skills in a different setting.
What do you like best about working at Zacco?
Zacco has given me the opportunity to learn during regular training activities and through my daily work, especially in situations where I am able to spend time when necessary to delve deeper into a subject.
And your best experience at work?
It’s hard to describe in a few words, but I would say it is the feeling you get after having spent a great deal of time trying to find a solution to a difficult problem, such as a way around piece of prior art or an attack point for opposition and then suddenly you see the light and the solution or missing argument is right in front of you.
