27/01/2007 Zacco acquires the majority in Ipendo

Becomes first firm of patent attorneys to offer a full international over-view of patent and trademark portfolios.

The leading IP consultancy in Scandinavia Zacco has made a strategically important step by acquiring 51% of the shares in Ipendo who has developed a web based management system for patents, trademarks and designs. By the acquisition Zacco breaks with the tradition in the business of patent attorneys by offering its clients a system which provides an overview of all intellectual property rights irrespective of handled by different firms of patent attorneys throughout the world. 

" Ipendo’s system INTASMA® is unique within its field taking its starting point in the clients’ need to have an overview of its intellectual property rights and breaks with the standard among patent attorneys throughout the world who generally only offer an overview of the patents for which the relevant firm of patent attorneys is responsible", says Zacco’s CEO Hans-Bertil Håkansson. 

" This fractioned picture forms a major problem for large international businesses that often have thousands of patents spread all over the world and for which numerous local firms of patent attorneys are responsible. This means that these businesses have only a limited overview and cannot co-ordinate the large values represented by the intellectual property rights", Hans-Bertil Håkansson continues. 

Malmö based Ipendo, which has had a fast international expansion since its establishment 2 years ago, shall continue as an independent business and shall even offer its services to other firms of patent attorneys and clients. Ipendo has in short time acquired a large number of international renowned businesses as its clients. By Zacco acquiring the majority, financing is provided and the continued fast expansion of Ipendo is secured.
