Ulf is specialised in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, managing patent portfolios, performing freedom-to-operate analysis, infringement matters, as well as supporting the monetising of IP. His areas of expertise include IP strategy, technology/knowledge transfer, licensing, in-house IP counselling, IP governance and start-up creation, primarily within the fields of engineering physics, IoT, IT, nanotechnology, sensors, energy solutions, and automotive.
Prior to joining Zacco, Ulf was Chief Intellectual Property Officer at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) in Portugal. Ulf’s responsibilities included capture of intellectual assets, fostering innovation, and generating revenues through technology/knowledge transfer and the creation of start-ups. As a European Patent Attorney he was also responsible for invention mining, patent prosecution and IP portfolio management.
Ulf has also long experience as team leader and patent attorney from another IP firm. During these years he handled the patent prosecution for large international industries, SMEs, and start-ups in various fields, including nanotechnology, optics, image processing, lighting, IoT, IT and medical technology.
Ulf holds a PhD in Solid State Physics from Lund University and has more than 15 years of international research experience in material science, semiconductor physics, nanotechnology, optics, and photovoltaics.
