Beware of misleading invoices

Have you tried receiving an invoice from an unknown company requesting payment for trademark and design services such as publication, registration or entry in business directories relating to one of your company’s trademarks or designs? You are not alone!

A number of companies have made a living out of sending out these invoices hoping that the recipient will be tricked into paying them. The invoices often look very official and it can be difficult to determine whether they come from a public body such as the Harmonization Office (OHIM) or WIPO.

You can check out whether an invoice is from one of the scam companies: Both OHIM and WIPO have published lists of the firms or registers that users have complained of as having sent such misleading invoices. You can find these lists here and here or you can contact your Zacco consultant for further information.
