David’s career in patents started in 2008 at the Swedish Patent Office, where he was an Examiner and Search Expert. David joined private practice with Zacco in 2015 and qualified as a European Patent Attorney 2019.
David has a general interest in technology and his practice encompasses a wide range of traditional and emerging technical fields including the pharmaceutical, steel, paper and process industries, among others across both SMEs and multinational organisations.
David advises his clients on various aspects of intellectual property, including drafting and prosecution of patent applications, which complements his expertise in patent litigation. David also assists clients with the development and implementation of their patent strategy, advising on best practice with regards to in-house processes related to innovation, IP management and the capture of ideas.
David graduated with a MSc. in Pure and Applied Chemistry from the University of Strathclyde. He holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Uppsala, and has completed postdoctoral studies at the University of Copenhagen. He has also worked in industrial R&D within the fields of pharmaceutical discovery and initial scale-up prior to joining Zacco.
David is a member of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (EPI), and the Association of IP Professionals in Swedish Industry (SIPF).
In 2019 and 2020, he was ranked by Managing Intellectual Property as a Rising Star, now Managing IP recognises him as a Notable Practitioner.
