Jakob joined Zacco in September 2023 as a European Patent Attorney in the mechanics team. He draws on IP expertise gained as patent attorney both inhouse and in private practice.
He started his IP career in 2015, when he joined a Danish boutique patent bureau. During his five years there, Jakob’s interest in the art of patents and general IPR continuously grew with a focus on patent drafting, prosecution, FTO analysis, and, particularly, opposition and appeal proceedings. Jakob worked within a variety of fields including sustainable energy, agriculture, medical devices, and Nanotechnology as well as software within the fields of, e.g., high-tech electronics and financial technology.
After passing the EQE in 2019, Jakob joined Radiometer Medical, a Danaher company in 2020 and worked there as a Senior IPR Counsellor until joining Zacco. The work involved invalidity case management in, e.g., Europe, China and Japan, and patent and trademark filing and prosecution in a broader range of regions and countries. Developing and executing IP and Business strategy was a key focus while working in a feedback loop with relevant stakeholders, such as inventors, project managers and C-level management. Jakob’s responsibilities went beyond patents and encompassed IP aspects, such as design, trademark, and trade secret protection.
Jakob holds a PhD degree in Nano physics obtained at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen and The National Center for Nanoscience and Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences Beijing.
