Intellectual property rights (IPR) and foremost design rights are currently the focus of the 50 disputes, on 5 continents and in 10 countries between the two giants Apple and Samsung.
In August an American jury sentenced Samsung to pay over one billion dollars to Apple because of that Samsung's Smartphones were infringing Apple's design rights for the iPhone. In Europe, the focus has been primarily on Apple and Samsung tablets and with varying success for both companies. The disputes have been highly publicized in recent months around the world. Disputes concerning the possible infringement of IP rights affect not only the big companies but concerns all that have a patent, trademark or design protection.
