I joined the Zacco office in Oslo approximately a year ago, in summer 2018. I am still quite new, but it does not always feel like it, as there have been so many new colleagues joining Zacco since then. I came recently from another, more niche firm and was attracted by the opportunity to learn more about intellectual property. I wanted to approach the IP field from a much broader perspective, and with our wide service offering, I can develop myself both personally and professionally.
About the Zacco culture
I was struck by the warm and welcoming atmosphere I met at the Oslo office. It helped me a lot during my first months. Zacco has a talented and experienced group of employees and they create an inspiring work environment. I had no problem integrating with the Digital Brand team, which is a very dedicated and ambitious team.
Current position and tasks
I am about to start in my somewhat new position as Regional Manager for Digital Brand in Denmark, Norway and Germany, and I am moving to Copenhagen for this. I work primarily with business development and portfolio management for our clients with a focus on domain names and online brand protection. It is an interesting role and a fast-paced niche. The offering we have is very competitive; clients can easily understand the advantages in choosing Zacco.
A success story to share
We helped a big state-owned client in Norway and Sweden to gain control over their digital brand presence online. They had a scattered portfolio with many different suppliers and subsidiaries (legal entities) owning the assets. To get the overview has been a lot of work and many colleagues from the different business lines have been involved, both lawyers, technicians and digital brand consultants. Now the client has a well-functioning structure in place that they are very happy with.
The beauty of Digital Brand
“I really enjoy working with domain names. I am somewhat nerdy when it comes to dispute cases and to dig into the details. I especially enjoy when we are able to settle cases amicably, without having to take legal measures.”
When that is not possible, legislation differs from country to country and you often need to be able to prove who has done what and when in order to enforce your rights. It is not easy, but that is the fun part for me. And of course, to advise the clients on their options and to know my expertise creates real value for them in a difficult situation, that is a rewarding feeling.
Where do you relax?
My favourite spot for relaxing is a bench near the water close to our summerhouse at the Swedish West Coast. Sitting there with my family and watching boats passing by, that clears my mind and gives me new energy.
