On 24 December 2015 the European reform package was published in the official journal of the European Union. Accordingly these amending regulations will already enter into force on 23 March 2016.
We reported on the major changes this reform package brings here. The changes include a strengthening of the position of trademark owners and also a change to the fee system for trademark applications and also for trademark renewals.
Moreover the “Community Trademark” will be renamed into “European Trademark” and the “Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM)” will be called “European Union Intellectual Property Office” (EUIPO) from 23 March 2016 on.
