It is with great pleasure that Zacco welcomes Joakim Nelson as Senior External Advisor in Zacco.
Joakim has spent close to 30 years in the telecommunications sector in a variety of positions and companies and with more than 25 years as a manager. Before that, he graduated as M.Sc.E.E with the focus on telecommunications and radio communications as a base for his career and focus.
Joakim's first position was at Telia as driving Point to multipoint radio systems. In 1990 he moved to Ericsson and into the corporate strategy function with the focus on future access network strategies including technologies such as GSM, ADLS, FTTH etc. He moved to the Netherlands to work with business and regulatory issues including contacts with the EU commission. At the end of the 90ies he moved over to Ericsson Mobile phones and worked with specifying GPRS. Joakim changed into product management and become head of data com products and later head of Strategic product management and was involved in establishing industry standards such as WAP, Bluetooth etc. Around year 2000 he was involved in preparing for the joint venture between Sony and Ericsson that became Sony Ericsson.
He left Sony Ericsson for a “digital pen company” named Anoto in a role as EVP Mobile and spend 2 years in that role before returning to Sony Mobile as head of Strategy. Joakim has moved between different roles including heading up technology strategy (CTO office), and responsible for External innovation. In his last roles within Sony he was responsible for Sony group Mobile standardization & Industry relations and he also held the position as chairman of Mobile Heights. Joakim is now the CEO and founder of Comnel AB and will be working for Zacco as external advisor within the patent field.
