Prominent guest speakers visited the new Zacco headquarters when it was officially opened on September 11th.
Moderator Peter Enggaard (Öresundsgruppen) guided all guests through the opening programme with highly interesting speeches from Pia Kinhult (First Governor, Region Skåne), Jesper Kongstad (CEO, Danish Patent and Trademark Office), Colin Carlile (Special Advisor, Science Village Scandinavia) and Mats Boström (CEO, Zacco).
Mats Boström welcomed everyone with a brief introduction to the 144 years history of Zacco. He also explained why Zacco has placed its new headquarters right in the center of the expanding and innovative Øresund region, which he sees as one of the regions in Europe with highest IP potential.
This was the perfect stepping stone for Pia Kinhult, who emphasized the importance of how politicians like herself should work for setting the best conditions for innovating and developing companies that operate within the region and how the region will benefit from companies like Zacco.
Jesper Kongstad who, besides being CEO at the Danish Patent and Trademark Office, also holds the position as Chairman of the Administrative Council of the European Patent Organisation, commended Zacco’s way of embracing the future challenges of IP, where the globalisation will mean increasing competition from all over the world and a renewed pressure on the IP business in general.
Finally Colin Carlile who last year finished his amazing work at ESS, European Spallation Source – an ambitious collaboration between 17 European countries and physically placed in both Lund and Copenhagen – gave his thoughts on how IP will become increasingly important in the years to come for companies focusing on innovation and development and congratulated Zacco with its geographical position and new offices in Øresund Region.
After a brief round of questions from the guests, the formal “opening ceremony” was ended by a symbolic “ribbon-cutting” to the new office – a joint venture between Mats Boström and Pia Kinhult.
