Johan has been working with IP since 1991 and joined Zacco in 2019 as Partner and Patent Director, Region Denmark & Sweden South.

Before joining Zacco, Johan has been working with IP in industry for 26 years. Most recently, he was working as Group Director Patents at the Volvo Group from 2017 to 2019 and as Head of IPR at Borealis from 2015 to 2017. Before this, he was working at AkzoNobel for 22 years where he held various Patent Attorney and IP managerial positions. Johan started his work within the field of IP as Patent Attorney at Albihns from 1991 to 1993.

As a Patent Attorney, Johan has obtained extensive experience from invention harvesting, drafting and prosecution of patent applications, oppositions and appeals, rendering FTO and patent infringement opinions, managing patent conflicts and litigations, mainly in Europe and the US, and advising clients on IP strategies, agreements, IP aspects of M&A processes as well as trade secret matters.

Regarding technology, Johan has extensive experience in the fields of chemistry and chemical engineering, for example silica, polymers, coatings, dispersing agents, oil and gas, construction material, biomaterials, e.g. cellulosic materials, papermaking and mechanical devices. He is a co-inventor of several patents in the fields of polymerization initiators, paper making additives and silica particulate materials.

Johan graduated from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) at Stockholm in 1986 as M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering.
