Thomas is Partner and Team Manager for Chemistry at Zacco Öresund.
Thomas joined Zacco in 2017 from a position as partner and team manager for chemistry in another Copenhagen based patent law firm. He has been working with patents and IP in private practice since 2008, originally with his main focus on patent litigation. Today his work also involves drafting and prosecution of patent applications, patent oppositions, FTO analyses, patent infringement analysis, and advising his clients on IP strategy and all further aspects of the life of their patents.
Thomas graduated in 1995 with a Master of Science in Engineering in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering degree from the Technical University of Denmark, and obtained his doctoral degree (Dr. rer. nat.) in Biophysics from the Technical University of Munich in 1999. From 2000 to 2008 he worked in academia and in industry as a researcher, developer and manager within the fields of (primarily) surface- and nanotechnology of polymers, their chemistry, and their interface to biological systems and the body. Further, Thomas has extensive experience in chemical process engineering and the upscale of production from laboratory to mass production within his technical fields.
As a patent attorney, Thomas has extensive experience from big pharma litigation as well as patent and litigation disputes between small- and medium sized companies. He has handled patent matters for worldwide corporations as well as for the small inventor, and companies of all sizes therein between, particularly within the fields of chemical process engineering and for the dairy sector. Thomas particularly aims at providing his clients with solid and thorough advice which puts the client’s needs fore and centre.
Thomas is a certified Danish patent agent (CDPA), member of ADIPA, DIFI, AIPPI, LES Scandinavia, EPI, IDA, the Danish Chemical Society and the Danish Polymer Society.
