Professional liability insurance: German lawyers and German patent attorneys are all required to take out professional liability insurance according to the provisions of the German Federal Lawyers’ Act (BRAO) and the German Patent Attorney Act (PAO), respectively. The minimum insurance sum for law firms is EUR 2,500,000.00. Further details are contained in Secs 51, 59j (2) German Federal Lawyers’ Act (BRAO),

Avoiding conflicts of interests: Professional regulations (Sec.43a (4) German Federal Lawyers’ Act (BRAO)) prohibit German lawyers from representing if there is a conflict of interest. This is why we always check whether a conflict of interests exists before we accept an engagement. Online dispute resolution platform and consumer dispute resolution: The European Commission provides a platform for online dispute resolution, which is available at https://.ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. ZACCO legal does not participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a dispute resolution body for consumers.
