Thaneas Prabakaran counsels in all areas of chemistry and life sciences, including biochemistry, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals, with a particular focus on European patent drafting and intellectual property counseling. He joined Zacco in 2024, bringing extensive experience from both academia and the biotech startup ecosystem, as well as expertise in innovation management.
Thaneas holds a Master of Science in Chemistry from Aarhus University, where his work encompassed bioethanol production, protein purification, monoclonal antibody generation, and bioassay development. Building on this foundation, he earned a PhD in Medicine from Aarhus University in collaboration with Genzyme Corporation, focusing on the mechanism of action of the recombinant enzyme Fabrazyme.
His academic and professional journey includes serving as a scientist at Aarhus University Hospital’s Department of Infectious Diseases (2012–2013). He later pursued postdoctoral research (2013–2016), exploring the immunological role of autophagy in infection and inflammation.
Transitioning to the startup world, Thaneas joined ISD Immunotech and later founded his own venture, where he led the development of immunomodulating peptides and small molecules. As a lead inventor, he played a pivotal role in patenting these innovations, overseeing the entire process from concept to filing.
Thaneas brings extensive technical expertise in cell biology, biochemistry, pharmaceuticals, and human diseases. With 18 published scientific papers and a patent application as lead inventor, he combines a strong academic foundation with a passion for innovation and translational science.
