GlobalBlock expands to include .cn and .de domains
13 April 2026
GlobalBlock prevents third parties from registering domains identical to your registered rights. This means that any subsequent registration is ‘blocked’, meaning that rights holders don’t need to register and manage multiple defensive domains.
A recent expansion has increased global coverage by around 10%, taking the total domain extensions to 780, which now include .cn and .de for China and Germany, which represent the world’s two most prominent county-code top-level domains (ccTLDs). Blocking domains significantly reduces the risk to your customers of finding brand abuse or fake phishing and malware sites, as well is limiting the potential for unauthorised brand association. For an additional fee, you can also block ‘lookalike’ domains.
GlobalBlock is only available to owners of protected marks, such as trademarks or Geographical Indications, and once applied, only the rights holder can unblock a domain. If you need to launch in a new market, simply unblock the local extension and register it as you normally would. For domains that have already been registered by a third party, GlobalBlock automatically monitors these and will block them if they ever become available, which is particularly useful if the renewal on your own domain accidentally lapses.
For organisations who have a cross border or global presence, GlobalBlock can significantly strengthen your domain security, making it a particularly effective tool within your wider online strategy.
