Michael joined Zacco in 2001 and is a senior partner. He has experience from all aspects of patent prosecution within the technical fields of pharmaceutical chemistry, biochemistry, bioinformatics, pulp and paper, material technology, battery technology and Medtech. He frequently advises both local and international clients in their IP strategy as well as Freedom to operate and IP due diligence projects.
Michael graduated with an MSc in Chemistry from Umeå University in 1996. He joined Pharmacia UpJohn and then the Swedish Institute for Food and Biotechnology, before becoming a business development manager at CAMO Software in Oslo where he focused on project management, licensing and mergers and acquisitions processes. He is the co-author of two scientific publications in the technical area of chemometrics and is currently working with a range of clients including those within Green Tech, Pharmaceuticals, Medtech and Life Sciences as well as material and battery technology.
He has been instrumental in setting up Zacco’s international business and is today responsible for Zacco’s international business. He continues to be an integral part of Zacco’s leading Scandinavian team for supplementary protections certificates, having helped in developing it, and he has comprehensive expertise of SPC prosecution in Europe.
Michael is consistently recognised by clients for his strategic IP consulting ability, often able to quickly identify the commercial applications of his client’s ideas. He is highly appreciated for his general business advice, often assisting with market planning or investment filing decisions as well as reviewing agreements, invalidation searches, FTOs and the drafting and prosecution of patents.
Mchael is a member of several Zacco specialist groups for SPC applications, US law and IP Due Diligence. He is an authorised patent attorney (Sweden), and a member of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), the Association of IP Professionals in Swedish Industry (SIPF), SwedenBio and the Association of Swedish Patent Attorneys (SPOF). He is ranked as Recommended Individual in the IAM Patent 1000.
