Patent professional, returned to Zacco in 2018 after seven years

“Almost everything is new or different now compared to my first time at Zacco.”When I joined Zacco (former Albihns) for the first time in 2006, I took a position at the Stockholm office that was comparable to a trainee programme. I had recently graduated from university and at Albihns I got a thorough introduction into the tasks of a patent attorney and into the IP business in general. I stayed until 2011, before moving on to new challenges within the IP industry.

About rejoining Zacco

My return to Zacco in 2018 was motivated by my curiosity about the immense change and development I spotted in this company. Zacco approached intangible assets in a different and tantalizing way. I wanted to be part of this journey and decided to take over the responsibility for the management of Zacco’s operations in West Sweden with currently approx. 70 employees. Now I am working out of the Gothenburg office, which I had visited regularly during my first years at the firm.

What’s new, what’s not?

Almost everything is new or different now compared to my first time at Zacco. The office has moved, we have new people with expertise from areas we did not have before, we use new systems.
“I think, Zacco has changed much more than other IP firms, especially when it comes to the service offering and the range of competences within our work force. Still, what I recognized immediately and had a positive memory of, was the great atmosphere and the camaraderie among the colleagues. We enjoy to laugh and to spend time together. That has not changed at all.”

In addition, some people that I had worked with before were still here, so I could even pick up some older working relations as well.

A career within intellectual property

After my graduation as an engineer, I attended some law courses, and I got really excited about the law, but could obviously not start all over again. Actually, my first patent teacher back then was Bengt Domeij (Member Zacco Board of Directors). I wanted to learn more and found that working within the IP field meant to combine both, the technology part and the legal one. So this felt like the ideal choice for me. I could also see me working as an engineer within the telecommunications industry, preferably in a managerial role, because I enjoy this as well. To sum it up, my interests have led me to exactly the spot I am in right now.

Picturing the future

I got this mental image of sitting in a meeting with the management of a big company together with my colleagues, one from each of our business lines. We then demonstrate the strength of the Zacco IP 360 offering and piece by piece show them how all of their company assets are intertwined and protected from all angles by us, i.e. via patents, trademarks, digital brand, cyber security, secure development, and DTI.

Reloading batteries

Spending time with my family, visiting friends, that is all I need to relax. So that is where you will find me on a sunny day during my vacation: playing with the kids in the garden or going swimming at the beach if the weather is nice.
